Glacier County, Montana
A no-frills bunkhouse for travelers who came to the wild places — not the polished ones. Wake up to the sound of a river you didn't know existed and a view that makes you forget your phone number.
Our Story
Goathaunt Bunkhouse started in 1964 when two brothers decided that the road through Glacier County deserved a place where hikers, hunters, and nomads could park their boots and rest their shoulders. No minibar. No room service. Just clean beds, a wood stove, and a kitchen that never locks after 9 PM.
Today, the bunkhouse sits on the same stretch of county road it always has — a mile past the old grain silo, where the cell signal fades and the stars come out like they're trying to make a point. We've added hot water and a new roof, but the spirit hasn't changed: you're here because the mountains called, and we're just the place that answers.
See what we offerThe Bunks
Every bunk is made of local pine, every blanket is washed in cold mountain water, and every bed faces a window that frames something worth waking up for.
Six-bay shared room — mix or split. Clean linens, reading light at every berth, and a locker for your pack. Men's, women's, or co-ed options available.
For when you need a door that locks and a room to yourself. Double bed, small desk, and a window that looks straight at the ridge. Perfect for a solo traveler or a couple who'd rather trade words with the dark than with strangers.
Four bunks, one regular bed, and enough floor space for everyone to spread out. We keep it quiet after 10 PM and keep the wood stove going all night. Bring the kids — they'll remember this.
Amenities
Central lounge with a real fire, stacked and ready every evening. Throw a log on — we don't charge for it.
Full kitchen with stove, fridge, and every pot you might need. Cook what you bought at the feed store — we just ask you clean up after yourself.
Stone fire pit out back with logs provided. Sit under the Milky Way and tell stories the way people used to.
Mudroom with hooks, boot racks, and a space to dry wet gear overnight. Your boots won't ruin the beds.
Pinned trail maps, weather updates, and recommendations from people who actually hike here. Ask at the desk.
You're on a mountain road at midnight? That's fine. Self check-in is always available — just follow the instructions we send you.
Location
Glacier County 59417 — that's the address. Not a crossroads, not a strip mall. Just county road, pine trees, and the long way to the nearest grocery store. That's the point.
What Travelers Say
We pulled in after a long drive through the park and just wanted a bed. Instead we got a wood stove, a kitchen full of spices, and the best sleep we've had in weeks. This place gets it.
Came for the hiking, stayed for the fire pit. Nobody was rushing us, nobody was selling us anything. Just a good bunk, a warm room, and the kind of silence that makes you feel something.
My family's been passing through Montana for thirty years and this is the only place we stop. Not because it's fancy — because it's honest. Beds are clean, coffee is hot, and the kids love the bunk room.
